North Carolina: Plan for Climate Change, Don't Deny It

The North Carolina State Senate recently approved a bill that prohibits the state from using scientific projections for sea level rise. The State House followed with a proposal of their own: they want to pass a five-year moratorium on all coastal planning that factors in sea level rise.

Instead of working to save North Carolina’s coast for future generations, legislators there are siding with climate change deniers, and trying to pass a law officially ignoring the threat.

The Petition

Rather than ignoring sea level rise caused by climate change, North Carolina should be preparing for it. North Carolina representatives should stand up for science, opposing H819 and any other bill that refuses to acknowledge established climate science and sea level rise predictions.
